The skin on our hands is delicate and fragile as it is constantly exposed to everything—weather conditions, detergents, and water. That’s why they require continuous hydration, nourishment, and protection.
Aesthetician Maria Argeitou, with her vast experience, always provides valuable beauty advice and explains why. She points out that a woman’s age is first revealed by her hands, followed by the décolletage, and then the face. For this reason, we must protect our hands in the following ways:
1. Hydration: The way we apply hand cream is extremely important. It should be massaged and rubbed in thoroughly to ensure deep absorption. If your hands are chapped and rough, apply a generous amount of cream at night and wear cotton gloves. By morning, you’ll be amazed at how soft your hands feel.
2. Washing: It’s best to wash our hands with lukewarm water and avoid applying soap before they are fully wet. We can also replace regular soap with gentler cosmetic cleansers. Lastly, it’s wise to frequently use alcohol-based or alcohol-free sanitizing gels when outside the home—in moderation, as excessive use can dehydrate the skin.
3. Massage: It is highly beneficial to massage your hands once or twice a week using a high-quality cream, applying it with care—starting from the top and working down to the nails. This practice is both soothing and deeply nourishing.
4. Gloves: Throughout winter, wearing gloves is essential to prevent dehydration. Additionally, always keep a hand cream in your bag to replenish moisture throughout the day.
5. Exfoliation: By doing a gentle peeling once a week with a natural and organic product, we enhance the absorption of hand cream, maximizing hydration—especially in winter!
