10 Tips to Shine on Christmas Eve – and Not Only…

We’ve really entered the festive mood and are already thinking about our appearance for Christmas (and New Year’s) Eve, as well as all the holiday outings, of which there are quite a few!

Aesthetician Maria Argeitou gives us some simple and smart tips to get the glow we deserve on that special night!

1) A few hours before you go out, do a gentle exfoliation on your face, neck, and décolleté and apply a hydrating mask. If your skin is oily, then a face mask should be the right one to cleanse the skin and close the pores.

2) If you have the time, take a warm bath with salts specifically for relaxation and stimulation or with essential oils.

3) Drink a tonic herbal drink, such as verbena, green tea, mountain tea or sage.

4) If your skin is dry, apply a generous dose of your moisturizer a few hours before and eye cream around your eyes, so that your skin is very well hydrated before makeup.

5) If your skin is oily, apply a firming serum or a lifting ampoule before makeup and avoid applying moisturizer, so that it doesn’t get shiny after a few hours.

6) Apply an ampoule or a lifting serum to the face and before the product dries, apply make-up, so that the two products mix and create a lasting lifting effect.

7) If your skin is very dry and wrinkled, then mix some of your moisturizer into your makeup and apply the mixture very thoroughly, massaging gently until it is completely absorbed.

8) Always pay attention to the concealer: it should not be too light but definitely one or two shades lighter than the make up.

9) Apply concealer before makeup and help it absorb by tapping it in, not spreading it. Also, cover any imperfections on your skin with concealer before makeup.

10) When you’re finished applying makeup, spray your face from a distance with an essence tonic so that the makeup lasts for many hours.

Always remember the basic rule of makeup: for what we want to cover, we use dark colors and for what we want to highlight, we use light colors.

Finally, if you don’t want to succumb to New Year’s Eve delicacies, eat a piece of fruit, yogurt, or a hard-boiled egg a little earlier at home.

Happy holidays and have fun!
